... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 9 am PDT Thursday...

* winds and timing... areas of northwest to north winds
increasing to 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph later this
afternoon and persist through early Thursday morning. Isolated
gusts to 45 mph will be possible this evening. Strongest winds
should occur below passes and canyons from Malibu to the
Hollywood Hills.

* Impacts... gusty winds will make driving difficult, especially
for drivers of high profile vehicles. Major roads that will be
affected include the 405 in West Los Angeles, and Highway 1
from Malibu to Santa Monica.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

When driving, use extra caution. Be prepared for sudden gusty
cross winds.





Beach Hazard Statement
Issued: 9:17 PM PDT Apr. 26, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect through Friday
evening...

* hazards... dangerous rip currents and breaking waves are
expected due to elevated surf of 3 to 6 feet. Local sets to 7
feet are possible. Highest surf is expected each afternoon and
evening on west-facing beaches.

* Impacts... there is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip
currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can
wash people off beaches and rocks... and capsize small boats
nearshore.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as rip
currents... longshore currents... sneaker waves and other hazards
create life-threatening conditions in the surf zone. Swim near a
lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't
swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following
the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or
wave for help.
