Watches & Warnings

Excessive Heat Warning
Issued: 11:28 AM CDT Jul. 23, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Excessive heat warning remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this
evening...

* heat index... although variable cloud cover may help to hold
values down a bit in some places... the majority of the warning
area is expected to see peak heat index values between 100 and
106 degrees this afternoon into early this evening.

* Impacts... the cumulative effects of the recent prolonged stretch
of heat and humidity could result in a potentially dangerous
situation which could promote heat-related illnesses.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous
situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of
fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay out of the sun...
and check up on relatives and neighbors.
