Mt. Hood has not had any measurable precipitation in so very long, that almost all of her snow pack is gone! It has not been often that anyone can have this view of this majestic giant without snow.....

Thanks everyone for the encouraging comments; it is an oddity to see Mt. Hood without any snow...I hope it gets a good base again this winter. That snow pack is an important part of a vital watershed for a great many people (and critters too).

Scary thought of no snow pack on the mountain for the future.

Nice pic! I had heard that you Oregonians set a record this summer ... # of days without measurable precip ... hope that you have a damp winter so that Mt Hood gets its beautiful snow-cap!

Such a craggy, sharp peak, it is so interesting to see it without its graceful mantle. Kudos to you, and congratulations on the Blue Border!

I'm glad this shot finally went
blue bordered.

It's an excellent view of Hood...although
it would certainly look better with a lot
more snow!

Congratulations on your VIP and AC honors.

Wow...I don't really know what to say; or how to even chew my gum!!!! I've never had a photo go
''VIP''....ever before. My thanks really to all of you whom have given me the inspiration, and even technical coaching to better my photography skills. Although my job gets me out and about...it really has been WU folks that have taught me a thing or two here and there to capture the good stuff I see so often.

Congrats on the VIP Magicman-- you have great shots, and I love to keep up on them. I was gone on vacation, so hoping to post a few tonight, of the rocks of Sedona and Moab. It was beautiful this last trip. I am glad that you got Hood before the snow and after. I have a shot of the Teton's that looks like cat woman :0) Keep up the great work. :0) Karen

Well! We just can't have naked mountains appearing on national website, you tell Mt. Hood to get a snowpack cover RIGHT NOW!

Seriously, the Seven Sisters are awesome naked or othewise.

LOL @ Crucescruiser!!! I believe Mt. Hood is currently getting "dressed" with some snowpack, as we currently have some higher elevation precipitation forecast at 2000' and higher expected within the next 24 hours. I REALLY would be a "Magicman" if I could tell Mt. Hood what to wear, and it actually happened, now wouldn't I??? Thanks for looking Crucescruiser, and yes, the Mountains of Oregon are especially awesome.
