Special Statement
Issued: 3:44 AM CST Feb. 7, 2016 – National Weather Service

... Some accumulating snowfall is possible along the Cumberland
Plateau region Monday afternoon into Monday night...

A strong and deep upper level trough will begin developing over
the eastern U.S. Today and into Monday. Meanwhile... a strong cold
front will move through the region tonight and bring noticeably
colder temperatures to the area. As numerous impulses interact
with the increasingly colder air mass... rain on Sunday night will
changeover to snow for much of middle Tennessee by midday Monday.
A good chance of snow will continue into Monday night with light
snowfall still possible for Tuesday as well.

Overall... snowfall accumulations should remain on the light side.
However... across the Cumberland Plateau region... impulse driven
precipitation will be a little more favorable and will combine
with the influences of a westerly low level upslope flow. It is
across the Cumberland Plateau region where snowfall totals of 1 to
2 inches will be possible by early Tuesday morning.

Across the remainder of middle Tennessee... less than 1 inch of
snowfall will be possible... with the southwestern quarter of the
mid state seeing only a dusting.

Residents... especially those people across the Cumberland Plateau
region... will need to stay informed. Future advisories and or
statements may be issued in the near future... as this event
draws closer.
