Hey buddy! Hope all is well. As someone who works in the industry - US oil production is up tremendously since April 2009, but retail prices have doubled. There is very little correlation between US drilling/production activity and retail prices. So the premise of the drill here, drill now lemmings is flawed. Conservation is by far the fastest way to drop use and, therefore, prices. Having said all that, I am a fan of "all of the above," just so long as it is done with common sense.

I have to agree...I dont look for prices to come back down..might as well settle in and get use to paying what we pay..and realistically we all knew they were gonna go up..and no one prepared..I love my 40mpg Bio-Diesel E300D!

I missed the topic while asking about MS Windows 8.

We now drive Toyota's, risky here in "automobile manufacturing country", but they deliver the average of 35 mpg. Gas prices, here in America, have always been too low as far as I am concerned. I still think gas should be rationed on a equal basis. The "Stamps" you don't use you can sell. I can just see all those SUV and RV people buying ration stamps at black market prices. Those "Occupy" people could get things settled in a jiffy.

Ever wonder why the Occupy Movement has missed the professional sports? Now there is a place to begin.

Do I need to be concerned about the 'Boys of Redmond' coming here to 405, taking me out back and beating the pee-wadding out of me for using the product key? Just asking.

...but look at his commute! He had to walk downstairs!

Karen - for hundreds of years all shopkeepers lived above or behind their shops, both here and during the "pioneer" times of America.

It is the swelling population that has meant folk have moved out of the towns and cities, not only lack of space, but lack of funds! It was mentioned in the news only Tuesday that the average price of a "house" in London has finally reached 1 million pound price. Some homes in the City are now over 3 million!!!

So now that it is going back down, if only a bit, does he get that credit too?

We are completely spoiled when it comes to the price of gas here, like Sandi said, we don't know how lucky we have it.

Years and ages ago America decided to 'spread out', and it became derogatory to live in the city. So, now we live in the suburbs and drive to the city to work. (well, I don't, but I think I'm a bit unusual).

That said, there are some communities here that are restructuring their cities and making it viable to live 'above' business in the city. We lived that way in Germany over 30 years ago.

A doctor owned the building. His practice was on the bottom floor, and he lived on the top. In between were two floors of apartments. Not a lot, only one took every floor as I remember- they weren't mcmassions, but look at his commute! He had to walk downstairs!

When your country doesn't have a lot of wide open spaces, you only have so much room!

When you think about it, gas is cheap. Heck, look at what people pay at the gas station for a bottle of water! And then they bitch about the price of gas.....

But regardless of that. I think that if we drill here to add to the amount of oil available the price will drop a bit. But it will take years. Also lets be real now, Wind and solar will take a hell of a lot longer.....

Hi Aubie....

You really don't know how lucky you are having the "gas" prices you have!

I have worked it out so many times and posted it on WU.... but we are now paying the equivalent of almost $10 dollars for the same amount of fuel - an American gallon is slightly smaller than an Imperial gallon but I structured that into the equation....... so, fill up your fuel tank and think of me filling up mine. Each time it costs almost £70... which is about $100... and I only have a small car!

yea you are right we are lucky for sure...dont know what these people would do if they had your Gas prices here..it nice to see you by the way!!!!

Heya Auburn :D

Gas is nearly six bucks here. 'Course, we have almost nowhere to go. [insert Tevye] on the other hand, almost all the fishing is done with gasoline motors; on the other hand, we all come froma long line of sailors - we should rediscover our heritage. I am a rowin' fool on our inflatable boat. Conch, lobster, ocean turbot, snappers and yellowtail are fillin' our pot.

I have to disagree with your blog premise a bit, though. The President can influence the price of fuel oils, but that action costs a wealth of favors. Don't wanna call them in on the wrong gig. You know how it goes. We're in for a ride.

Fortunately for us, coconut is a nearly perfect food, albeit somewhat boring.

I really can't begrudge the political pundits -- they're just trying to preserve their personal paradise(s), same as we'd do if we had the iron. The primary difference is that I wouldn't look into the faces of my imposed dependants and lie to them and tell them every'ting was gwan be fine.

Hey Crab..well living in Paradise aint cheap..but I would love the chance to be there and try for self sufficiency!Man its great so see all of you old timers on here!

I should have mentioned I spent some time playing "Angry Birds" on the iTablet. I just have to get out more.

I will try Windows 8, I should imagine it is Beta? I hate to test the new programs and then have to pay for them.
