Life in southern California definitely has its plus and minuses. Too many people and too much traffic can definitely put a damper on life. I know that I am very lucky to live and work in a community in which walking or riding a bike is a very common occurrence. For the most part, I can avoid the freeways and heavy traffic areas that cause so much strive for so many.
But the weather is usually pretty darn good. We have our bad days, we have our coastal eddy that drives me a little bit nuts in spring/summer, but for the most part, our weather allows us to grow something all year long.
There is rarely a time when I have absolutely nothing growing in our garden. Some times there is more, sometimes, not so much. I seem to have incredible luck with lettuce. I think I had lettuce growing in various stages for the past four years.
So - since the garden seems to be doing well, I thought I would share. I have to admit to scaling back on what I grow. I've gotten to the point where I only plant and grow what we will use. I used to grow corn, but it took up so much in our small space, and then would be ready all at the same time. I can get good corn for a very reasonable price, so I decided to make better use of my space. Matter of fact, we are enjoying some tonight with our first BBQ'd dinner of the season!
