... Strong thunderstorms will move across Horry... Georgetown...
Williamsburg and Marion counties through 330 PM EDT...

At 225 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms 6 miles
east of Rhems... or about 17 miles west of Murrells Inlet... moving
northeast at 15 mph.

Some locations impacted include Conway... Myrtle Beach... Red Hill...
Socastee... Andrews... Bucksport... Bucksville... Burgess... Dongola...
Earle... Forestbrook and Graves.

Hazards include...
half inch diameter size hail.
Gusty winds of 30 to 40 mph.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning.

Thunderstorms can pose a variety of threats including gusty winds...
small hail... cloud to ground lightning... and localized flooding. It
is recommended that you remain indoors until the storms pass.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT
Wednesday evening for southeast North Carolina and northeast South
Carolina.

..the boating topic today is understanding marine forecasts...

Understanding a marine forecast is critical to safe boating. Typical
marine forecasts predict wind speed and direction... wave heights and
significant weather. Take particular note of any current advisories
or warnings.

Special marine warnings are issued for strong thunderstorms which
produce winds in excess of 40 mph. Marine warnings are also issued
for waterspouts... large hail... or sudden wind-shifts.

You should have a vhf radio with built in NOAA Weather Radio
channels onboard. If you venture beyond 25 nautical miles from shore
you should consider getting an hf transceiver or a satellite phone.
