The short term forecast for northern Cayuga, the Eastern Lake Ontario region. As of 1230 PM...a broad area of lake effect snow covered most of Oswego and far northern Cayuga counties and has extended into southern Lewis County as well. The snow was falling at varying rates with a few embedded heavier squalls dropping up to an inch per hour. This activity will gradually lift north early this afternoon and reach an Adams to Carthage line on its northern edge by 2 PM. Conversely...the trailing edge of the activity will lift to Fulton and Central Square by 2 PM. Motorists should be prepared for rapidly changing condition and exercise their winter driving skills.
